Juventus players and staff have been placed in isolation on Saturday after two positive cases of Covid-19 were reported within the Italian football club.
The shocking development came ahead on the eve of the scheduled match against Naples, on Sunday.
“Two staff members tested positive for Covid-19” during “checks provided for by the protocol in force”, announced Juve.
“They are neither players nor members of the technical or medical staff”, it further added.
Under the health protocol, “the entire extended team” has been placed in isolation.
“This procedure will allow all members who test negative to train and play matches, but will not allow contact with the team. outside the group ”, says the statement issued by the reigning nine-time Italian champion.
Italian football has been overtaken by the coronavirus pandemic. Altogether, seventeen players have contracted COVID19 over a week.
As reported earlier, two players from Naples tested positive for Covid-19, less than a week after the match played last Sunday against Genoa, a club where a source of contagion appeared.
