A day after Imad Wasim’s decision, pacer Mohammad Amir withdrew his retirement from international cricket ahead of the T20 World Cup.
In a post on X, Mohammad Amir announced his decision on Sunday: “After discussing with family and well-wishers, I declare that I am available to be considered for the upcoming t20WC [ICC T20 World Cup].”
“I still dream to play for Pakistan!” Amir, 31, said in a post on social media.
“Life brings us to the points where at times we have to reconsider our decisions. There have been a few positive discussions between myself and the PCB where they respectfully made me feel that I was needed and can still play for Pakistan,” he added.
“I want do this for my country as it comes before my personal decisions. Donning the green jersey and serving my country has always been, and will continue to be, my greatest aspiration,” Amir added.
In PSL 9, representing Amir Quetta Gladiators, Amir finished with 10 wickets in nine games with an economy of 8.41.
Veteran pacer had announced his retirement back in 2020, alleging that he was being “mentally tortured” by the PCB management.
On the other hand, when questioned about Amir’s comeback to the team, the Chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), Mohsin Naqvi during a press conference in Lahore on Sunday said, “The selection committee will decide Mohammad Amir’s future for Pakistan cricket.”
