Mohammad Amir to represent SSGC in current domestic season

It seems like Mohammad Amir has read the writing on the wall and is prepared to go a level down to regain lost form. Coach of Sui Southern Gas Corporation coach Atiq uz Zaman announced on twitter the fast bowler will be representing his team in the ongoing domestic season.

This comes days after Amir was dropped from the Pakistan’s test squad. He had a poor year in ODI cricket picking up only 3 wickets in 2018. However, his last test tour to UK was not as lowly. There was pressure on the selectors to make a call and Amir didn’t make the cut for a 17 man squad.

Nevertheless, a break from the rigors of international cricket may be just what Mohammad Amir needed. He could work on his run up, his wrist position. Micky Arthur had also highlighted a few points after the 1st India game, one would hope he would provide his feedback to coaches at NCA and Atiq uz Zaman, so they can build on the work being done by Azhar Mehmood as the bowling coach. It is imperative that Amir sees this as an opportunity to improve rather than a question mark over his quality. A firing Amir is still Pakistan’s number 1 bowler.
