Pakistan’s Sana Mir becomes No.1 ODI Bowler with a career high 663 points

Pakistan Women’s cricketer & former captain, Sana Mir has secured top position in ICC ODI bowling rankings. She has attain her career best 663 points.The 32-year-old former captain clinched the number one spot after bowling performances against Australia in recent ICC Women’s Championship series in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

Sana Mir is the first Pakistan player to top the ICC Women’s ODI Rankings, becoming the top ranked bowler.

On her achievement Sana Mir is thankful to ICC for providing opportunities to female players. In a tweet she wrote, “I would also like to thank @ICC for providing us regular opportunities to play with the big teams through ICC women Championship and to Coach Mark Coles , who chose to look at my skill rather than my age. To @TheRealPCB for upgrading our support staff ,so we are better equipped”.

She bowled superb spell in the series, 3/26, 1/37 and 3/53 against Australia. Sana Mir’s bowling has lifted her three spots in the rankings. She has surpassed South African Marizanne Kapp , Australia’s Megan Schutt, and Jonassen. Jonassen has slipped from No. 1 to No. 4 being out of action recently.

Pakistan were however defeated by Australia 3-0. Australia is at the top of the Championship table. Pakistan is now down at No. 6, just above South Africa and Sri Lanka.

Sana Mir’s rise to the top of the women’s ODI bowling rankings underlines the value of the opportunities provided by the ICC Women’s Championship. As well as being the top wicket taker in this edition (24), Mir’s efforts v AUS gave her the most ICCWC career wickets (44).
