Boxer Amir Khan has pledged to donate Rs40 million for the welfare of the poor during the lockdown in Pakistan amidst the coronavirus breakout in the country.

The announcement was made by the British Olympic Boxing Medalist at a time when the numbers of those dying and those affected by the virus are increasing rapidly across the world and also in Pakistan.

According to the boxer, Amir Khan Foundation will make sure to distribute ration and other necessary things among the poor.

Keeping in view the shortage of quarantine centers in Pakistan, Aamir also offers to use his boxing academy in Islamabad to serve the purpose.

Earlier, Amir offered his private property to Britain’s National Health Service to facilitate corona infected patients.

The 33-year-old former world light-welterweight champion said in a post on his official Twitter account: “I am aware of how difficult it is for the public to get a hospital bed in this tragic time.

“I am prepared to give my 60,000 square foot 4 story building which is due to be a wedding hall and retail outlet to the @NHSuk to help people affected by the coronavirus. Pls, keep safe.”

Various other international players have donated for the global health crisis including Roger Federer, Lionel Messi, and Christiano Ronaldo.
