BTS attend the UNGA as Special Presidential Envoys of the Republic of Korea

BTS, the international K-Pop sensation boy band, for the third time in four years, attend the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) on Monday as Special Presidential Envoys of the Republic of Korea.

The septet accompanied the South Korean President Moon Jae-in at the SDG Moment 2021 event at the General Assembly Hall.

As reported earlier, the BTS will be speaking and performing online at Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) Moment 2021, an annual meeting of leaders from 193 member and observer nations dedicated to the UN’s sustainable development goals.

“Instead of [COVID’s] ‘lost generation’, a more appropriate name would be the ‘welcome generation’ because instead of fearing change, this generation says “welcome” and keeps forging ahead” – BTS at the United Nations.

“I hope we don’t just consider the future as grim darkness. We have people who are concerned for the world & searching for answers. There are still many pages left in the story about us & I feel like we shouldn’t talk like the ending has already been written,” said BTS leader RM.

BTS member Kim Taehyung, speaking at UNGA said: “And so I hope that we don’t think so darkly of our future. Since in the future there will be people who will personally contemplate this world, work hard, and try to find the path. There are many pages left where we are the protagonist of this story, so I hope that we don’t speak as if the ending has already been decided.”

Jimin in his UN Speech said, “Because we can’t stand still when we’re in the ideal time of our lives to take on new challenges, it wasn’t as if we can blame anyone and we must’ve felt the frustration.”
