Film star Meera comes forward in support of Ali Saleem aka Begum Nawazish Ali

Film star Meera has come forward in support of artist Ali Saleem,  famed Begum Nawazish Ali. On Wednesday, Ali Saleem was granted bail over surety bond worth Rs10, 000 after he was arrested from guest house in Karachi’s Clifton area.

It was revealed later that Meera was also present at the location when police raided the guest house. While talking to local media she has slammed the authorities for arresting Ali Saleem over alleged possession of liquor. According to her Ali Saleem is innocent as she quoted, “Ali Saleem is an innocent man, I believe he wasn’t involved in any illegal activity”.

Meera has been reported to have landed in Karachi on 31st of August. She has also posted few backstage photos that could be probably from the same film shoot, she has referred while talking to a local newspaper. She also revealed that many other were also present at the bungalow, at the time of raid, as they were shooting for a film.

Meera also added that, “The set was ready and our shooting was cancelled after the incident. We have no idea where Ali is right now. Since it was a film set, there are certain props required as per the script. However, during his arrest, there wasn’t a single item that was considered objectionable.”

Meera was surprised as Ali was arrested. She made and appeal to the authorities for his release, though bail was granted a bit later. She continued while talking to the local newspaper “I would like to request the government to release him and arrest the actual criminals, not artists. We are innocent and hardworking.”
