Queen Elizabeth Nearly Escaped Death in 1994, Thanks to Her Bodyguard

Lucy Stafford, one of the 8,000 attendees of the Royal Garden Tea Party held on Tuesday, revealed some interesting details of her conversation with Queen Elizabeth II.

In the brief conversation with Lucy, Her Majesty recalled her close encounter with death in 1994 and how her bodyguard saved her life.

As per the Queen, she attended a cricket match 25 years ago and a ball flew right towards her. It was her bodyguard who intervened in time and caught the ball that could have otherwise injured the Queen severely. The Queen was also accompanied by the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge of the time.

“The Queen was very funny, she reminisced about how her bodyguard had caught a cricket ball flying towards her at a match in 1994,” wrote Lucy.

“She said she would have been dead if it hadn’t been caught!” added the 19 year old philanthropist who was invited to the Queen’s party in recognition of her charitable work.

Every year in summer, Queen Elizabeth holds a series of tea parties in the garden of Buckingham Palace and hosts approximately 30,000 people collectively. The first two parties were held on May 15 and 21, and the next is scheduled for May 29. The final party of this season is set to be held on July.
