Rami Malek says he won’t play a religious terrorist in Bond 25

Although Egyptian actor, Rami Malek, accepted the villain’s role in Bond 25, he made it sure there were certain conditions that were met before he got on board.

For starters, Malek insisted that he would not play an Arabic-speaking terrorist causing destruction in the name of religion.

“That was one thing that I discussed with [director] Cary Fukunaga. I said, ‘We cannot identify him with any act of terrorism reflecting an ideology or a religion. That’s not ­something I would entertain, so if that is why I am your choice then you can count me out’. But that was clearly not his vision. So he’s a very different kind of terrorist,” The Mirror reports Malek as saying.

Malek, earned critical acclaim for his portrayal of Queen front man Freddie Mercury in “Bohemian Rhapsody,” is a hard core Egyption at heart who holds great pride in his Egyptian roots.

“I promise you all I will be making sure that Mr. Bond does not have an easy ride of it,” said Malek said earlier in an announcement. He also promised his audience that his character would definitely be a different type of villain that Bond has ever faced.

Bond 25 is set to release in April 2020.
