Netflix has announced its another Turkish original which is going to be supernatural drama “The Gift”. Netflix has already commissioned two seasons of the series.
The Gift will feature famed Turkish star Beren Saat, who is best-known for playing the lead in female empowerment drama “Fatma Gull,” which was a major international hit.
In Pakistan, Beren Saat was an instant hit when local channel aired famed Turkish series Ishq e Mamnoon, in which she played character Behtar.
As being reported the shooting for the project has already kicked off in Istanbul.
British producer Alex Sutherland (“Argo”) steering the eight-episode show, which is produced by Turkey’s OG Medya for Netflix.
Beren Saat, who is one of the Turkish highest paid actresses, will be seen portraying the character of a young Istanbul artist named Atiye, whose life changes when she encounters an archaeologist.
A discovery is made at the site of an ancient temple, called Gobeklitepe, where secrets of her past are hidden, according to promotional materials, reveals series synopsis.

Kelly Luegenbiehl, Netflix Vice President of International Originals, in a statement said, “We are thrilled to be working with Beren in her return to series as she brings a dynamic female character like Atiye to life”.
According to the statement, “The journey from Istanbul to Gobeklitepe and Nemrut, passing through Anatolia, provides a connection between the spiritual world and the material world”.
The Gift is going to Netflix’s second series. The first Turkish original was “The Protector,” which also featured a big local star Çagatay Ulusoy and that too was based on a supernatural element.
The Protector was released in 190 territories last December and scored more than 10 million views in the first four weeks. The streaming giant will be releasing the second season of The Protector on 26th April.
