Golden Globes 2024 Winners List: Oppenheimer wins big bagging 5 awards at the annual award ceremony

Oppenheimer, Poor Things named best films while Succession, The Bear and Beef rule TV awards

The 2024 awards season officially kicked off with the 81st annual Golden Globes awards ceremony on Sunday night.

Barbie and Oppenheimer came into the night leading film nominations while Succession dominated the TV nods.

When it comes to “Barbenheimer,” the Oppenheimer won big, the film about physicist J. Robert Oppenheimer, bagged five awards at the annual award ceremony, including:

  1. Best picture – drama
  2. Best director – motion picture, Christopher Nolan
  3. Best actor in a motion picture – drama, Cillian Murphy
  4. Best supporting actor – motion picture, Robert Downey Jr
  5. Best original score

In this year’s event two new categories have been included — Cinematic and Box Office Achievement and Best Stand-Up Comedian on Television.

However, the annual honorary Cecil B. DeMille and Carol Burnett career awards were not handed out this year.

Da’vine Joy Randolph and Robert Downey Jr. were the first two trophies of the night, for the Female and Male Supporting Actor in a Motion Picture for Focus Features’ The Holdovers and Universal Pictures’ Oppenheimer, respectively.
