‘Hamilton’ Remix, Barack Obama joins Lin-Manuel Miranda

Lin-Manuel Miranda, the creator of ‘Hamilton’ has released the latest in song “One Last Time” (44 Remix) as part of his HamilDrops series on Friday. In the final installment of the hit musical, Barack Obama appears, to deliver part of George Washington’s farewell address over some gentle guitar and piano.

“Though, in reviewing the incidents of my administration, I am unconscious of intentional error, I am nevertheless too sensible of my defects not to think it probable that I may have committed many errors,” Obama is heard saying. “I shall also carry with me the hope that my country will view them with indulgence and that after 45 years of my life dedicated to its service with an upright zeal, the faults of incompetent abilities will be consigned to oblivion, as I myself must soon be to the mansions of rest.”

“I anticipate with pleasing expectation that retreat in which I promise myself to realize, without alloy, the sweet enjoyment of partaking, in the midst of my fellow-citizens, the benign influence of good laws under a free government, the ever-favorite object of my heart, and the happy reward, as I trust, of our mutual cares, labors, and dangers,” Obama says.

Miranda, on his Twitter handle, posted the picture of the former US President in the recording studio just after releasing the song.

The remix which began last year has raised money for several nonprofits. The track also features Christopher Jackson, an original “Hamilton” cast member; it was produced by the gospel musician BeBe Winans and Alex Lacamoire, the orchestrator of “Hamilton” and a longtime Miranda collaborator. Miranda and Jackson also performed the original “One Last Time” at the White House, in 2016. The duo exclusively got the standing ovation of Obama and administration.
