Alternate routes for Karachi: Protesters seize metropolitan!

Aasia Bibi, a Christian accused of blasphemy eight years ago, was acquitted by Pakistan Supreme Court this morning. The trial court and Lahore High Court’s earlier verdicts sentencing Aasia Bibi to death have been overturned.  SC has also ordered that Aasia be freed immediately if she is not involved in any other case. 

Religious groups have called for a protest across Karachi between 4pm and 5pm. However, protesters have already seized the metropolitan blocking roads and setting tires on fire at various locations.

Due to protests- below mentioned routes are currently blocked:

1. Liyari express way Karachi to Hyderabad both roads are closed for traffic. Traffic is being diverted to Al Asif square towards Abu-Al-Hassan Asfahani road.

2. Road is closed for traffic at Star Gate towards city.

3. Tower road is closed for traffic, traffic diversion from Jinnah bridge towards MT Khan road, MA Jinnah road towards Baba-e-urdu cut while II Chundrigar road towards Uni centre.

4. Numaish chowk both roads are closed for traffic, traffic is diverted towards 45 congress to P.P Chowrangi & society towards corridor.

5. Hub Rivers road Baldia# 04, both roads are closed for traffic, Traffic from Sher Shah is diverted From Baldia traffic section to Labour Square and traffic from Mawach Goth is diverted to 24 Market.

6. Super Highway Karachi to Hyderabad, both roads are closed for traffic. Traffic is diverted to Al Asif square towards Abu-Al-Hassan Asfahani road.

7. 4k Chowrangi, road is closed for traffic.

Plan your travel accordingly. Do not leave house/offices unnecessarily until situations in the city calms down. Stay safe everyone. Each life matters.
