Celebrities kick off #JusticeForAsifa campaign over social media

Celebrities from both sides of border took to social media demanding justice for Asifa, 8 year old Kashmiri girl brutally murdered after being gang raped. Though the incident took place back in January but the campaign for justice is gaining momentum over social media now. The revelation of this crime has inflamed religious tensions, leading to widespread protests, gained international attention, and hashtag #JusticeForAsifa #JusticeForOurChild is trending all over the social media

Bollywood celebrities kicked of #JusticeForOurChild campaign and many big names have posted on social media lending their voices for the cause. Some came retweeting these celebrity posts.

Music producer Vishal Dadlani also came forward urging people to take a stand and not let this matter slide away:

8 old Asifa Bano belonged to the nomadic Muslim Bakarwal community, a nomadic Muslim community that lives around the Himalayas. People from this tribe frequently stop in the Jammu valley to make use of its public land during the winter. She was abducted on January 10, while looking at horses that were left for grazing in field, was held captive in a temple and raped before being strangled to death. Asifa’s body was found days after her death, abandoned in the forest.
It’s being reported that the local police has arrested eight men for the crime, including two officers who allegedly helped cover it up. Several of the men have confessed and provided details of the kidnapping, rape, and murder, reports Indian media.
