The Federal Sharia Court, while hearing several petitions challenging the Transgender Persons (Protection of Rights) Act, 2018, has ordered the establishment of a Child Protection Unit for transgender children.
A two-member bench of the FSC, comprising Chief Justice Dr Syed Muhammad Anwer and Justice Khadim Hussain Shaikh heard the petitions.

Adjourning the hearing of the case till January 10, the court said that the constituted special committee will submit the report after fixing the SOPs in 24 days.
