Fight against Thalassemia is responsibility of society: Reema Khan

Actress and director Reema Khan visited thalassemia care centre of Help International Welfare Trust at Karachi. She said that print and electronic media should start an effective awareness campaign among masses about the disease of Thalassemia across the country, to create awareness among masses about prevention of this disease.

To stop transmission of Thalassemia in the country, Reema Khan stressed that everyone should go through the complete medical test and people with disease family history should be screened completely. She further added, ”We have to propagate and start a nationwide awareness campaign against Thalassemia and its effects”.

Reema Khan was accompanied by her husband Dr. Tariq. Both of them mingled up with child patients, answered their queries and snapped selfies with them. Dr. Tariq while speaking to the media said that the government should open special Thalassemia wards in every hospital so that the patients mostly children would be given proper care without any financial charges.

Mrs. Reema lauded the efforts of Help International Welfare Trust (HIWT) and its contribution towards helping and providing most needed medical care to the Thalassemia patients. We have to follow the footstep of an institute like HIWT as a great example.
