Pakistan Meteorological Department’s has issued a statement regarding the developing Hikka Cyclone at the coastal area of Karachi, owing to the deep depression in the east-central region of the Arabian sea.
The department stated that although the cyclone would not hit Karachi or adjacent areas, it can cause heavy winds in the city. The cyclone, however, would proceed towards Oman coast.
Due to the increased pressure in the Arabian sea, Karachi would continue to face heatwave till Tuesday. However, Mirpur Khas, Gujranwala divisions, Kashmir and upper Punjab will experience rainfall as a result of the cyclone.
The fishermen in Sindh have been issued warning to not go in open sea for the next two days till the Hikka Cyclone – named by the Maldives – passes through the region.
