Karachi: Petrol pumps closed in different areas over lack of supply

Petrol pumps in different areas of the metropolis have been closed down due to the scarcity of petrol.

In a statement issued by All Pakistan Petroleum Retailers Association member Sameer Najmul Hussain said that petrol pumps at various places in Karachi have been closed down due to depletion of petrol stocks.

The supply of fuel from oil marketing companies has been affected and the government should take immediate notice of this crisis, a statement further added.

Pakistan State Oil (PSO) spokesperson responding to the situation in a statement said that continued supply of all petroleum products is being ensured and 6.5 million liters of petroleum products have been provided at retail outlets during the last three days.

He further added that during the past few days, 80% more than the daily average sales are being observed. He assured that PSO still has a satisfactory stock of petroleum products and there is no possibility of fuel shortage.

The PSO spokesman said that a continuous supply of fuel was being ensured at all petrol pumps and PSO is procuring as per quota petroleum products from local refineries.

According to the Sindh government’s directive, petrol pumps are closed at 5 pm while fuel is supplied uninterruptedly from 8 am to 5 pm, added PSO spoksperson.
