Sindh restricts people from “unnecessary movement” after 6pm

The government of Sindh has restricted the unnecessary movement of people after 6 pm amid a sharp rise in COVID-19 cases in the province.

The Covid detection ratio in the province has reached 12.7%, which has been the highest in the fourth wave.

CM Sindh Murad Ali Shah issued the orders during a meeting of the Provincial Task Force today after reviewing the latest pandemic situation on Tuesday.

The fourth wave of coronavirus has hit Sindh with full force as the rate of positive cases continues to increase throughout the province.

The provincial task force on Covid-19 will review the situation again on Friday, July 30.

CM termed the situation “alarming” and then he audited the available facilities at government hospitals and decided to declare some more government hospitals as Covid facilities.

Health Secretary Dr. Kazim Jatoi, briefing the meeting, said that the Covid detection ratio in the province has reached 12.7%, which was the highest in the fourth wave.

In Karachi, the detection rate was recorded at 26.32% on July 26.

The chief minister added that on July 20 Karachi had a 20% detection rate, which increased to 23% on July 21, 21.54% on July 22, 23.46% on July 24, 24.82% on July 25, and 26.32% on July 26.

CM Sindh also remarked that he has heard that many tuition centres are still open and ordered their immediate closure.

On the other hand, on Tuesday, NCOC informed that the number of critical Covid-19 patients in Karachi is highest since the start of the pandemic.

As being reported, during the last one week, from July 19 to 25, 2021 Covid detection ratio in Karachi East was 33%, Korangi 21%, Central 20%, West 19%, Malir and South 17% each.

A total of 18,112 tests were conducted in the province during the past 24 hours, out of which 2,308 people tested positive, while seven people lost their lives to the virus.

While 1,932 people tested positive only in Karachi within the last 24 hours.
