Leopard at large in DHA Rawalpindi was captured after 6 hours of effort!

It took Islamabad Wildlife Management Board and Capital Development Authority (CDA) more than five hours to capture a leopard that caused panic in the residential area.

Deputy Commissioner Islamabad confirmed in a tweet that the leopard was captured and handed over to the wildlife team. “

Unfortunately, Three persons were injured and are being treated. All are stable. Action will be taken against its owner. The details are being traced with the help of DHA management,” he added.

 

According to Rina Saeed Khan, who heads the wildlife board, the leopard would be kept at the Rescue Centre, which used to be the Islamabad zoo.

 

 

As reported, the leopard in question was owned by a Retired Gen resident of DHA 2 ISB, and managed to escape from the cage it was kept in, on Thursday.

 

According to Rina, the DHA security called to report the Islamabad Wildlife Management Department at around 4:20 pm about a leopard that had bit a security guard on the back. By the time the IWMB team reached the housing scheme, Rescue 1122 was already on the ground but it had failed to cordon off the area, said IWMB Rina Saeed Khan.

A lot of TikTokers had gathered around the leopard, dangerously close to the feline despite warnings from the staff of the Capital Development Authority (CDA) to stay indoors, Rina told.

“The leopard attacked because it felt cornered,” she added.
