Pakistan embassy in Sudan’s capital comes under attack

Pakistan embassy in Sudan’s capital city of Khartoum came under attack on Wednesday.

The embassy in a statement notified: “Today, the Embassy of Pakistan was hit by three bullets amid the clashes between Sudanese Armed Forces and Rapid Support Forces, which cause[d] loss to the Chancery building.”

The incident was a blatant violation of the Vienna Convention as the host government is responsible for providing security to diplomatic missions, the statement mentioned.

“We urge the two parties to exercise constraint and request the government of Sudan to immediately deploy security personnel for the protection and security of the Embassy of Pakistan,” the statement said.

The embassy once again advised all Pakistani nationals to stay at home and avoid unnecessary outgoings due to the deteriorating security situation amid clashes.

“Due to the ongoing conflict in Sudan, all respected Pakistanis are requested to limit their activities and avoid going out of their homes. However, if there is any problem, please immediately contact the Embassy. Also, save our helpline number 0924095119 in your phone so that it comes in handy when needed,” the Pakistan Embassy in Sudan said.

 

Fighting continues for a sixth day in Khartoum as the second attempt at a ceasefire breaks down.

According to the UN envoy, more than 180 civilians have been killed, and another 1,800 have been so far injured.

The international community, including the UN, the Arab League, the US, the UK, and the EU have called for an end to the violence that erupted in Sudan after a fallout between rival military leaders.
