Sheikh Rashid released from Adiala Jail

The former interior minister secured bail against surety bonds of Rs50,000.

Sheikh Rashid has been released from Adiala jail on Thursday.

Awami Muslim League chief was released from Adiala Jail after Islamabad High Court granted him bail today in a lawsuit registered against him for levelling allegations against former president and Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari.

The IHC ordered Sheikh Rashid to be released after bail in the case registered at Abpara police station.

The former interior minister secured bail against surety bonds of Rs50,000.

On the order of the Islamabad High Court, Judicial Magistrate Umar Shabbir issued the warrant for his release.

Following the development, his lawyers reached Adiala Jail with the warrant.

He was earlier sent to jail on a 14-day judicial remand.

A large number of AML workers were present outside Adiala Jail, who showered flowers on Sheikh Rashid’s car as he was released from the prison.

Speaking to the media after his release, Sheikh Rashid said, “two nights were heavy on me, I forgive those who did this, I also forgive the thieves who robbed my house, my watches, and belongings were returned. Otherwise, I will submit the paper.”

The head of Awami Muslim League added “I am not afraid, I am with the truth, Rawalpindi is a city of real and ethnic people, I stand with Imran Khan, and Maryam Nawaz says Shahbaz Sharif’s government is not hers.”

Sheikh Rashid Ahmed said that we also say that Muslim League (N) and IS are not together, only the judiciary can save this country after Allah. I have left half of my belongings inside the jail. So I will go to jail first.

Rashid said he was grateful to the judiciary who ruled on his bail petition without taking any pressure.

The AML chief added that he had left half of his belongings in jail so that he could adjust quickly if he were to return to prison in future.

He also thanked everyone who raised their voice against his arrest as well as the media “that highlighted the injustices meted out to him.”
