Former cricketer Zafar Sarfraz passes away of coronavirus in Peshawar

Former cricketer Zafar Sarfraz passed away after contracting novel coronavirus in Peshawar on Monday.

The confirmation of his death was made by the officials at Lady Reading Hospital confirmed late Monday.

As being reported, the 50-year-old former cricketer was diagnosed with the COVID-19 infection six days ago. He had been on a ventilator for the past three days.

Zafar Sarfaraz had played first-class matches for Peshawar, according to the president of the Sports Writers Association Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Ejaz Ahmad.

Born in 1969, Zafar Sarfaraz was a left-handed batter and slow left-arm orthodox bowler.

He played first-class from 1988 to 1994 and List A from 1990 to 1992.

Zafar played 15 FC games for Peshawar, he was the elder brother of Akhtar Sarfaraz, who passed away last year.
