Nabeel Qureshi is a genius when it comes to satire. Very softly and in a rather entertaining manner, his films take a dig at the prevailing social stigmas. Qureshi’s films have been deemed a hit and have screened not only Pakistan but also the world over, earning praise across the border as well.
Recently, the ace director took to his social media to complain of illegal screening of Pakistani films by a prestigious club in Lahore.
“Continuous violation of copyrights & illegal screening of the Pakistani films by DHA Club Lahore for past few months. They are screening #loadwedding today, without any permission/NOC from the producer, shame on #dhaclub previously they screened actor in law as well without our NOC,” wrote Nabeel on his Twitter.
Qureshi stresses the point that clubs ought to take permission for screening films either by conferring with the producers or obtaining NOC. Illegal screenings of films not only affect business of cinema/films in the country but also discourage filmmakers because of violations of copyrights.
