Razia Episode-5 Review: From oppression to domestic violence, Razia’s suffering seems never-ending

Express TV mini-series Razia is down with 5 episodes, from oppression to domestic violence, Razia’s suffering seems never-ending. The performances are all brilliant. Mahira Khan as a narrator continues to knock out the sense and shake the conscience of our society. In the previous episode, we have seen that how Razia narrowly escapes death from a murder attempt by her father and brother. In this episode she is married as a punishment given to her brother does it make any sense?

Razia burns all her accolades and certificates as a symbol of giving up all her hopes, dreams, and aspirations. Razia has surrendered, she has accepted her fate. She has harmonized with her fate and she is kind of in a weird state of tranquility where she has no hopes and dreams. She thinks that all her suffering has ended but she is wrong. It is just the beginning.

Razia’s father is also haunted by her strange silence. He asks his wife to look for her proposals and marry her off as soon as possible. Her mother starts looking for proposals and Razia’s rishta parade has started. She is being rejected for weird reasons. Some say she is short, some say she is dark reflecting our society’s so-called standards. The narrator rightly says that not always men but women are also doing injustice to women too.

Razia’s brother is caught red-handed in a hotel room with a girl. The girl’s family has come to negotiate on this matter and they come out with a very bizarre situation. They are asking Razia’s hand as a punishment for whatever her brother has done does it make any sense at all? Razia is shocked to hear that she will be the scapegoat in this situation, she asks her mother what she will do when her son commits another sin.

Razia is married off to a man as a penance to whatever her brother has done. Apparently, the groom seems a decent guy and he started off the wedding night in a positive way but then his monster self appeared showing his true colors. He is going to punish poor Razia for her brother’s doing. Poor Razia is subjected to domestic violence and it seems that she will be subjected to domestic abuse in the future as well. From oppression to domestic violence Razia’s suffering seems never-ending. Razia is just paying for being a woman!
