BLACKPINK Hits New Hot 100 High On Billboard With “Ice Cream”

Blackpink has scored a new career-best rank on the Billboard Hot 100 songs chart, as their new single “Ice Cream,” in collaboration with Selena Gomez, debuts at No. 13.

On September 8, Billboard announced that “Ice Cream” takes No. 13 on this week’s chart. The Hot 100 ranks the most popular songs in the US across all genres based on streaming, radio airplay, and sales data.

The charting company and music magazine shared the big news on Twitter. That placement is an impressive debut for any just-released piece of music by any act, but for Blackpink, it’s truly a historic appearance.

With “Ice Cream” the latest single of Blackpink will instantly become the highest-charting track in history by a South Korean girl group when the chart returns, and in this instance, Blackpink is set to beat their own record.

The No. 13 peak is 20 spots higher than any other cut fronted by or featuring an all-female troupe from the Asian country.

Released on August 28 on YG Entertainment/Interscope Records, “Ice Cream” reaches with 18.3 million U.S. streams and 23,000 downloads sold in its first week, ending September 3, according to Nielsen Music/MRC Data. It also gained 5.1 million radio airplay audience impressions in the week ending September 6.

The track enters the Digital Song Sales chart at No. 2 and Streaming Songs at No. 8.

Blackpink, the South Korean quartet comprising members Jennie, Jisoo, Lisa and Rosé, rewrites its best Hot 100 debut and rank, outpacing two tracks that began and peaked at No. 33 earlier this year: “Sour Candy,” with Lady Gaga, in June and “How You Like That” in July.
