The exterior of Taj Mahal might just be in danger!

The symbol of love, the beautiful and the most magnificent  Taj Mahal, is a tourist’s heaven. History, emotions, experience, Taj Mahal offers it all. However, now it seems, even this symbol of love is not safe. According to new, a minaret at the entrance of Taj Mahal  has collapsed as heavy rain and strong winds lashed Agra this Wednesday.

According to the reports by NDTV,  there is a 12-feet metal pillar at the entry gate known as Darwaza-e-Rauza, that has crashed by the strong  winds during the thunderstorm that crossed 100km per hour. The minaret and dome broke into several pieces when the pillar collapsed.

There is an appeal  which was filed in the Supreme Court of India by the Archeological Society of India (ASI) for sorting out the ownership of Taj Mahal. The SC asked the Uttar Pradesh Sunni Waqf Board to show Mughal emperor Shah Jahan’s signed documents in the court to prove its ownership. “Who in India will believe that it the Taj belongs to the Waqf board,”was the question  raised by the the Bench,  which comprises of Justices AM Khanwilkar and DY Chandrachud.

Archeological Society of India told the SC, “Taj Mahal was taken over by the British and since Independence, this society has been maintaining the Taj Mahal.” They further added, “Taj has been losing its sheen and the structure is suffering due to increased pollution levels in Agra, Experts said the abrasive nature of the particulate matter in the air is damaging the surfaces of the Taj.”The ASI said this in the light of a study they conducted.
