Nigar Johar has become the third woman officer in Pakistan’s history to reach the rank of ‘Major General’.
On Wednesday, the Pakistan Army announced the promotions for 40 brigadiers to major general’s rank. The announcement was made by Pak Army media-cell Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR).
The Army Selection Board meeting approved the promotions of the brigadiers. The meeting was headed by Army Chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa.
Major General Nigar belongs to Pak Army’s Medical Corps were among the 40 brigadiers promoted last week.
The Major General hails from Swabi district of Khyber Pakhtoonkhwa (KP). Her father Col Qadir served Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI), died in a car accident with his wife 30 years ago. Major General Johar is the niece of (R) Major Muhammad Aamir who had also served ISI.
