Pakistan allows A-level students to sit in MDCAT
Pakistan has allowed A-level students, who are yet to sit their Cambridge exams, to appear for the Medical and Dental College Admissions Test (MDCAT) this year.
The entry tests will be conducted from August 30 to September 30, while the admissions will be finalized by January 2022.
The PMC has, however, instructed colleges to delay it to February for A-level students.
The decision was announced by the federal minister for education Shafqat Mahmood after he met PM’s aide on health, Dr. Faisal Sultan.
Both the officials discussed ways the government could prevent final-year A-level students from losing a year because of the Covid-19 pandemic.
“All students who wish to seek admission in medical and dental colleges can take the MDCAT examination even if they have not yet taken their FSc pre-medical or A-level exams, according to the Pakistan Medical Council Undergraduate Education (Admissions, Curriculum, and Conduct) Regulations, 2021,” stated Ministry of Federal Education/professional training.
universities will be directed to not finalize the admission on seats equal to the applicants who have taken their A levels in October and are awaiting their results and the admission on these seats will be finalized after the results are available in January 2022.

only elective subject results this year for merit creation in public colleges in view of the FSc exams being held for elective subjects only. PMC is already considering a policy on these lines for private colleges.
