PIA suspends flights to Dubai, Sharjah amid heavy rains

Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) suspended flights to Dubai and Sharjah amid heavy rains.

The national flag carrier on Thursday announced that flight operations to Dubai and Sharjah would remain suspended due to the return of severe weather conditions.

In a statement, a PIA spokesperson said that flight operations for Dubai and Sharjah were “severely affected” due to the rains, adding that flights of the national carrier and other airlines would “remain suspended for the time being”.

“Some PIA flights were facing delays and cancellations due to the bad weather,” it said, adding, “PIA is very conscious of its troubling its passengers. PIA will renew its air operations immediately as soon as the situation improves.”

As heavy rains returned to the United Arab Emirates on Thursday, authorities were forced to cancel and delay several flights in and out of Dubai, the second-busiest international airport in the world.

Meanwhile, authorities ordered remote working and studying in affected areas on Thursday and Friday.
