PewDiePie dethroned form world’s most popular YouTube channel, losses to T-Series
PewDiePie has briefly lost his crown for six-year reign as the world’s most popular YouTube channel, the Indian Music Label T-Series took lead and passed the controversial YouTuber.
Each channel boasts nearly 90 million subscribers, but T-Series had gained a narrow lead of 50,000 as of Monday. Both channels now have more than 89 million subscribers.
This takeover happened right after three days of the Christchurch mosque attack. As the terrorist in New Zealand urged people to “subscribe to PewDiePie”, just minutes before entering a mosque in Christchurch and opening fire on people inside.

Felix Arvid Ulf Kjellberg, known online as PewDiePie, is a Swedish YouTuber, comedian, and video game player–commentator, best known for his YouTube video content, which has mainly consisted of Let’s Play commentaries, vlogs, and comedic formatted shows.
PewDiePie himself and several other YouTubers have campaigned to keep the vlogger on top position. However, the takeover was originally predicted to take place in October.
After T-Series took the lead, PewDiePie tweeted a call for people to subscribe to his channel.
