Lord of the Rings star Sir Ian Holm dies aged 88 after battling with Parkinson’s disease
Sir Ian Holm, the Lord of the Rings star who played Bilbo Baggins in hit film franchise dies aged 88 after a battle with Parkinson’s disease.
The news of his death was announced by his family on Friday.
‘He died peacefully in hospital, with his family and carer… Charming, kind, and ferociously talented, we will miss him hugely,’ says the family announcement.
His memorable works include playing the android Ash in the 1979 Alien film, a sports coach in the film Chariots of Fire, and Dr. Willis in The Madness of King George.
