Yasir Hussain clears the air over his ‘transgender comment’ on social media

Amidst the backlash over the alleged insensitive ‘transgender comment’, famed actor and TV host Yasir Hussian has clarified the statement on his Instagram post calling it as a mere ‘misconception’.

Using the hashtag on his latest post on Instagram #RespectForAllGenders, the actor revealed that he is not portraying the role of a transgender in the latest show.

Hussain shared that he is wearing a Saree in the images he posted on social media account is because of his dual role in the drama as he is playing the role of his mother alongside.

The actor pointed out in a statement, “I just wanted to clear the misconceptions that some people have about my recent role. The images that you have seen over social media of me wearing a Saree are for a project in which I am playing the role of my mother.”

“I am not playing the role of a transgender and by no means do I ever want to disrespect a gender that I have immense regard for, “Hussain continued.

“Once the show is out you will be able to understand the character better and will know that my role has nothing to do with humiliating or mocking anyone.”

He went on to say, “We as public figures receive a lot of retaliation/negative comments and just because I chose to reply to a comment with a joke does not in any way mean that I have no respect for a certain gender. Other negative comments that we receive are never made a controversy out of so this also shouldn’t be. It is just a character intended for humour and nothing else. Hope this clears the doubts that some people have.”

The actor is currently busy in his upcoming Telefilm titled “Help Me Durdana” which will be released on Eid-ul-Fitr.
