Heat wave alert for Karachi; Temperatures are to soar for the next three days

Mercury in the metropolis soared to 39.5 degrees Celsius on Monday

Karachi is to get partial heat waves for the next three days, the Meteorological Department (PMD) predicted on Monday.

Karachiites should brace themselves for continued hot and dry weather in the coming days.

Mercury in the metropolis soared to 39.5 degrees Celsius on Monday while the temperature is likely to reach 40 degrees Celsius on Tuesday.

Hot winds from the northwest are expected to influence Karachi’s weather patterns in the next three days with the absence of the cooling sea breeze exacerbating the situation.

The PMD in the weather advisory issued warnings of a partial heatwave, attributing the rising temperatures to the absence of the usual cooling sea breeze from the Arabian Sea.

Instead, hot and dry winds from Balochistan have prevailed, keeping humidity levels low.
