Karni Sena threatens ‘Tandav’ web series makers, offer a bounty of INR10 million to cut off the production team’s tongues

Troubles still continue for the Amazon Prime web series Tandav in India after facing massive backlash and protests for hurting religious sentiments.

In the latest development, Karni Sena threatens ‘Tandav’ web series makers, offering a bounty of INR10 million to cut off the production team’s tongues.

As being reported by the Indian news outlets, in his latest statement, Maharashtra Karni Sena chief Ajay Sengar while objecting to Tandav’s scenes,  mentioned that anyone who would slit the tongue of those insulting Hindu Gods will be given a reward of Rs 1 crore.

He further added that the behaviour of the makers will not be accepted.

“We will give Rs 1 crore reward to anyone who slits tongue of those who insults Hindu gods and goddesses in the web-series”, he said.

Karni Sena, also known as Shri Rajput Karni Sena (SRKS), is an organization based in Rajasthan, India.

Reportedly this new situation arises days after the Lucknow FIR against the makers, star cast, and Amazon Prime Video.

As per media reports, the police team had also visited Ali Abbas Zafar’s residence in Mumbai to personally handover him the notice.

The FIR is reported to be registered at Lucknow’s Hazratganj Kotwali.

However, the team of the web series Tandav has already issued an apology.

The statement said: ” ‘Tandav’ is a work of fiction and any resemblance to acts and persons and events is purely coincidental. The cast and crew did not have any intention to offend the sentiments of any individual, caste, community, race, religion, or religious beliefs or insult or outrage any institution, political party or person, living or dead. The cast and crew of ‘Tandav’ take cognizance of the concerns expressed by the people and unconditionally apologize if it has unintentionally hurt anybody’s sentiments.”

The political drama features Saif Ali Khan as the top politician and Dimple Kapadia in the role of the rival politician.
