Pakistan makes it to Sultan Azlan Shah Cup final after 13 years

Pakistan are unbeaten in the event and are at the top of the table with 10 points after four games.

In the final of the 30th Sultan Azlan Shah Hockey Pakistan will face Japan on May 11 in Ipoh, Malaysia.

On Wednesday, Pakistan remained unbeaten proving their status as strong contenders for the finals of the event by defeating Canada 4-5 in their fourth pool match.

Canada took a 2-0 lead within the first 17 mins to put Pakistan on the backfoot.

Abu Bakr Mahmood scored the first two goals for Pakistan to bring his side back in the game.

Arshad Liaqat, Rana Waheed Ashraf and Ghazanfar Ali scored one goal each for Pakistan.

Sean Davis scored a brace for Canada, meanwhile Harbir Sindhu and Avjot Buttar scored one each.

On the other hand, Japan defeated Malaysia 1-2, after which Pakistan and Japan both had 10 points on the points table, due to which the both teams reached the final.

Yesterday, the match between Pakistan and Japan resulted in a 1-1 draw with the former scoring the equaliser in the dying minutes.
