4.9 magnitude earthquake strike Islamabad, surrounding areas

The earthquake occurred at a depth of 142 kilometres with its epicentre being the Hindu Kush region.

A 4.9 magnitude earthquake struck Islamabad and surrounding areas on Saturday night.

The tremor was also felt in Peshawar, Swat, Chitral, Lower Dir and surrounding areas.

The earthquake occurred at 10:44 pm, according to the National Seismic Monitoring Centre.

The epicentre of the earthquake was in the Hindu Kush region at a depth of 42 kilometres, according to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD).

Fortunately, no report of loss or damage was received by the time of filing this report.

Last month, a 6.0 magnitude earthquake jolted parts of the country.

The epicentre of the earthquake was in the Hindu Kush region at a depth of 213km.
