Bushra Bibi has been put under house arrest at Bani Gala.

Bushra Bibi, the wife of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan, was put under house arrest at her residence in Bani Gala, on Wednesday evening, following her conviction in the Toshakhana reference.

The authorities declared the former first lady’s residence in Bani Gala as a “sub-jail” at the request of the Adiala jail superintendent.

Following the convection, Bushra Bibi arrived at the Adiala Jail to surrender for arrest however amid security concerns the authorities decided to confine her at Bani Gala under house arrest.

In yet another blow to Imran Khan and his party PTI, the former premier and his wife Bushra Bibi on Wednesday were sentenced to 14 years in jail, each, in the Toshakhana reference.

According to the verdict, PTI founder Imran Khan and his wife Bushra Bibi were barred from holding any public office for 10 years and also slapped with a fine of Rs787 million each.
