JUI-F leader Hafiz Hamdullah targeted in a blast in Mastung

Hamdullah and the others were traveling from Quetta to Kalat, adding that the incident occurred after they crossed Mastung.

JUI-F leader Hafiz Hamdullah was targeted in a blast in Mastung on Thursday.

Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam Fazl (JUI-F) leader Hafiz Hamdullah and ten others sustained injuries in a blast that is reported to have been carried out near his vehicle.

According to Mustang Deputy Commissioner Abdul Razzaq Sasoli, several people were injured in the Mustang blast.

He added that the three injured including the JUI-F leader had been shifted to a hospital in Quetta.

A video clip apparently recorded from a mobile phone is doing rounds on social media showing Hamdullah covered in blood being taken to hospital supported by two gunmen as he spoke.

JUI-F spokesperson Aslam Ghauri updating on the incident said that Hamdullah was not critically injured.

Speaking to Geo News moments after the blast was reported, JUI-F spokesperson Aslam Ghauri said that Hamdullah was injured but not critically.

“He is okay. He is injured but the situation is not critical […] The gunmen and the others accompanying him also sustained minor injuries but they are okay. There is no serious issue at the moment.”

He said that Hamdullah and the others were traveling from Quetta to Kalat, adding that the incident occurred after they crossed Mastung.

“We still do not know if it was a suicide blast or a planted bomb,” he added.

“According to the information I have received, Hamdullah sahib and two persons are injured. All are okay and the matter is not serious,” he added.
