Karachi police arrests man who harassed female university students

IG Sindh took notice of the incident of harassment of female students on Karachi’s Rashid Minhas Road!

Karachi Police arrested a person who harassed university students traveling in a van on Rashid Minhas Road.

According to the press release issued by the Karachi Police, the District Central Police arrested the person on Saturday who committed obscene acts, after 7 days of the reported incident.

The press release added, “Today the team of DSP Azizabad and SHO Joharabad arrested a person who was doing obscene acts while driving a motorcycle.”

It may be noted that a few days ago a video went viral in which a man was doing obscene acts while driving a motorcycle near the UBL Sports Complex while looking at a women’s van, for which an FIR was immediately registered-

DSP Azizabad and SHO Joharabad collected all the evidence immediately after registering the FIR on the orders and instructions of DIG West Asim Khan.

According to the police, the video was investigated on technical grounds, and police pickets were installed at different points for a continuous week.

In the press release, it is said that the CCTV camera team of Joharabad police station also played a central role in the investigation.

According to the police, after several days of continuous hard work and investigation on technical grounds, the team of DSP Azizabad and Joharabad Police Station today arrested the person driving the motorcycle in this video near Riaz Autos Block 15.

The arrested person has been identified as Adeel, and heroin was also recovered from his possession during a body search.

The police further said that the arrested person is being further investigated and an FIR will be registered accordingly.

Sindh Inspector General (IG) of Police Riffat Mukhtar directed the relevant senior superintendent of police to submit a report on the incident.
