PTI claims its websites ‘blocked’ in Pakistan ahead of Feb 8 general elections
Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) on Friday claimed that its websites were “blocked” in Pakistan and demanded an answer from the federal authorities.
PTI’s official X account tagging the official handles of the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA), interim information minister Murtaza Solangi and interim IT minister Umar Saif, demanded an explanation as to why its websites are blocked in Pakistan.
“People are still getting symbol information from Imran Khan’s Facebook page so the question is what purpose is this block serving?” PTI questioned.
Jibran Ilyas, a member of the PTI’s social media team, also tagged interim IT minister Umar Saif in his post, and questioned, “Can you tell Pakistanis why the websites of [the] country’s most popular political party [are] blocked by you?”

After being deprived of its iconic electoral symbol ‘bat’, PTI has fielded its leaders as independent candidates with different electoral symbols for the Feb 8 general elections.
PTI has launched an online portal on its website insaf.pk, as well as a “backup site”, pticandidates.com to facilitate its supporters about election-related information about the candidates and their electoral symbols.
