Punjab police to approach LHC over Yasmin Rashid’s acquittance in Jinnah House attack case

Punjab police to approach LHC over PTI leader Dr. Yasmin Rashid’s acquittance in Jinnah House attack case!

Punjab Police will be challenging the Lahore anti-terrorism court’s order to discharge PTI leader Yasmin Rashid in a case pertaining to vandalism at the Lahore Corps Commander’s Residence, also called Jinnah House, on May 9.

The Punjab police in a statement issued on Sunday said: “All conspirators, planners, and perpetrators of the May 9 incident, including Dr Yasmin Rashid, would be brought to justice.”

It added that the investigation into the Jinnah House attack case was being conducted on scientific lines.

“The court order is being challenged as police were not given the opportunity to present forensic evidence in the case. The court (ATC) order will attain finality after the order of the High Court,” it said, adding, “Police reserves its right to investigate the case and to bring the truth before the public.”

“Any premature assumption/inference at this stage is likely to be misleading,” the police statement added.

A day earlier an anti-terrorism court discharged 23 accused, including PTI leader Yasmin Rashid, in the Jinnah House attack case registered at Sarwar Road.

On the other hand, the court remanded 79 accused, including 13 women, in police custody for five days.

The accused included PTI supporters Khadia Shah, Maryam Mazari, Aliya Hamza, Tayyaba Raja, and Sanam Javed.

Earlier, the police told the court that they had to recover a mobile phone from the accused.

The court ruled that the police had not nominated Yasmin Rashid in the case. It ordered to release Yasmin Rashid if she is not involved in another case.
