Who is Anila Ali? Social media in uproar after Pakistani-American addressed a pro-Israel rally in Washington!

A video clip went viral on social media showing Anila Ali addressing the pro-Israel rally in Washington on November 14.

Anila Ali, a Pakistani-American Muslim and women’s rights activist said, “I stand before you as a Muslim American, Pakistani, friend of the Jewish people.”

“I am here to affirm to my Abrahamic brothers and sisters that you are not alone,” said Ali.

Explaining that Islam prohibits all the horrific acts Hamas committed on October 7,  she said “The war to destroy the Jews and the Jewish homeland must end once and for all.”

She ended her remarks, by saying, “Am Yisrael Chai.”

Who is Anila Ali?

As per her website, Anila Ali a native of Pakistan, is a retired California public school teacher, Muslim philanthropist, author, and women’s rights advocate.

A centrist Democrat, Ali served as a delegate to the 2012 and 2016 Democratic National Conventions.

She is also a co-founder of the Irvine Pakistani Parents Foundation and CalPak Educational Services. In 2015 she presented at the Obama White House Summit on Countering Violent Extremism.

Anila Ali has been quite vocal on social media regarding anti-Israel hate and anti-Semitism.

Following her statement at the pro-Israel rally in DC, the internet has dug into all of Anila Ali’s past efforts in connection to Israel.

She is also reported to be part of the controversial delegation that visited Israel recently claiming to be a Pakistani national. It is pertinent to mention here that as Pakistan does not recognise Israel and has no diplomatic relations, it is not possible to visit the state of Israel on a Pakistani passport.

As reported, Anila Ali is a board member of Sharaka (an NGO lobbying for Israel) working to normalize Pakistan- relations. In 2022, she organized a delegation of Pakistani Americans to Israel.

Pakistanis demand to revoke Anila Ali’s citizenship, however, it’s not clear if she still holds a Pakistan passport.
