Google apps’ old payment system is likely to be restored within 7 to 10 days!
Meanwhile, credit/debit card payments available for Pakistan.
As reported, the direct carrier billing (DCB) mechanism for downloading Google-purchased applications via mobile phones for one month has not been restored despite the government’s instructions to the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP).
According to the source within government, the officials expect the old payment system to be restored within a seven to 10-day period.
The source added that Google had already announced that the purchased application could be downloaded through a credit/debit card from Dec 1, 2022, so the decision was implemented for Pakistani customers.
In the latest development, a government official told the news source that the Minister for Information Technology and Telecom Syed Aminul Haque was supposed to contact SAPM on Finance Tariq Bajwa on Friday and request him to expedite the process of restoring the DCB mechanism as soon as possible because customers have been “anxiously awaiting the restoration of the old payment system”.
Google on Friday temporarily suspended carrier paid apps in the Play Store for Pakistani users over a payment dispute.
According to the statement, Google Play Store currently only has the option to download the app via credit card.
Officials of the IT Ministry said that the Federal Minister has directed to resolve the matter as soon as possible and the matter will be resolved within two weeks.
During this period Pakistani users can download the apps only after paying through credit card or debit card.
