Sindh govt. announces public holiday on March 30

Sindh government has announced a public holiday on March 30 on account of Shab-e-Barat.

The College Education Department of the Sindh Government on Friday announced that all educational institutions falling under the domain of the department shall remain closed on March 29 (15 of Shaban) on account of Shab-e-Barat.

“In pursuance of the decision taken in the Steering Committee meeting on Education held on Saturday, January 30, 2021, all public and private educational institutions, falling under the administrative domain of the College Education Department, shall remain closed on March 29, 2021, on account of Shab-e-Barat,” the notification read.

Shab-e-Barat (the night of forgiveness) is observed across the country with religious fervor and solemnity every year on the 15th of the Islamic month of Shabaan. 

Also known as Mid-Shaban Jashn is a Muslim holiday observed by Muslim communities on the night between 14 and 15 Shaban.

It is regarded as a night when the fortunes of individuals for the coming year are decided and when Allah may forgive sinners

According to the Islamic lunar calendar, the 15th night of Shabaan month is known as Lailatul Barat.

According to Muslim belief, Shab-e-Barat is the night when Almighty Allah arranges affairs of the whole next one-year including the writing of all births and deaths on the universe on the “Loh-e-Mehfooz.”
