Karachi reports the second case of Omicron variant on Friday, however, the infected patient has escaped from the quarantine!
The Sindh Health Department on Friday has confirmed the second case of Omicron variant in the country.
According to the sources, a 35-year-old infected individual travelled to Karachi from Britain, who first tested positive for coronavirus in random checking.
The Omicron infection was confirmed in the affected person later through genome sequencing, the source added.
However, the infected patient escaped from the quarantine center after being shifted to a private hotel on Shahra e Faisal from the airport.
As being reported, another 19 people are currently quarantined at the hotel, but the authorities concerned haven’t provided security as yet.
Five out of the 19 people have to undergo genome sequencing.
The source stressed that it home department, police and relevant deputy commissioner are responsible for providing security at the quarantine centres.
Prior to this incident, 38 people have managed to flee quarantine due to the absence of security.
Pakitan has already restricted travel to and from countries falling under Category C and those affected by the Omicron outbreak.
However, Britain is not on the Category C list.
