Kim Kardashian West mocked for having a birthday party on private island
Kim Kardashian West, reality show star turned entrepreneur is being mocked over social media for having a birthday party on a private island.
Social media users accused her of being “tone deaf” after spending her 40th birthday on a private island with a large group of family and friends.
It all started after the reality TV superstar shared the details of her 40th birthday celebration at an undisclosed location, a private island, with her 67.1 million followers on social media by posting photos from the event in a series of tweets.
“40 and feeling so humbled and blessed. There is not a single day that I take for granted, especially during these times when we are all reminded of the things that truly matter”, she said adding, “For my birthday this year, I couldn’t think of a better way to spend it than with some of the people who have helped shaped me into the woman I am today.”
“After 2 weeks of multiple health screens and asking everyone to quarantine, I surprised my closest inner circle with a trip to a private island where we could pretend things were normal just for a brief moment in time,” Kim Kardashian wrote on Twitter.
“We danced, rode bikes, swam near whales, kayaked, watched a movie on the beach and so much more. I realize that for most people, this is something that is so far out of reach right now, so in moments like these, I am humbly reminded of how privileged my life is,” she further added.

But that was not acceptable for many as for them the trip was “insensitive” to families separated by Covid-19 and being effected by pandemic.
I said goodbye to my sister over the phone as she was dying, we went/did anything for our bdays, MILLIONS ill, 227K DEAD, chaos in the streets, criminal president & Marie Antoinette shares her self-indulgent island party & we can't have fam for Thanksgiving. But whatever. pic.twitter.com/PGUT6oHDmU

This is so grotesque. The rich can pretend to be normal on a private island. Actual normal people are cancelling their Thanksgiving and Christmas.

Good for you. I lost four months of pay, still tied up with unemployment and have seen a significant drop in future earnings.

I’m helping my daughters with childcare and virtual school for my granddaughter. Still haven’t gotten my 2019 tax return.
Glad you had fun.
And soon the post became a meme trend, many came out mocking her post by sharing their photos under Kim’s post caption:
