Anupam Kher sued for role in ‘The Accidental Prime Minister’

Bollywood actor Anupam Kher is reported to be sued for his role in the upcoming film The Accidental Prime Minister, for damaging the image of some top people.

According to the Indian media, Kher who is portraying the role of former Indian prime minister Manmohan Singh in the film has been sued in the court of law in Bihar along with the fellow actors Akshaye Khanna who plays the role of the noted journalist Sanjaya Baru.

The case has been filed by lawyer Sudhir Kumar Ojha who states in his petition that Kher and Khanna have damaged the image of both of them. “It hurt me and many others,” he stated in his petition.

In his complaint, Mr Ojha said others who have played the role of UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Vadra have also damaged their image.

He has also logged a complaint against the film director and producer.
Earlier, this week the trailer of the film was taken down from YouTube annoying the lead actor Kher who claimed that the trailer was not visible on site despite trending at “Number No 1” the previous day.

Taking it to social media, Anupam Kher wrote, “Dear @YouTube!!! I am getting messages & calls that in parts of our country if you type, the trailer of #TheAccidentalPrimeMinister, it is either not appearing or at 50th position. We were trending at No 1 yesterday. Please help”

Film ‘The Accidental Prime Minister’ which is slated for 11 January 2019 release, is based on Sanjaya Baru’s book of the same name.
