Ashura being observed nationwide amid extraordinary security arrangements

Yaum-i-Ashura (Muharram 10) is being observed nationwide today 29 July, amid extraordinary security arrangements.

The Shia mourners across the country participated in processions to honor and grieve the supreme sacrifice made by Prophet Muhammad’s (PBUH) grandson Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA), his family, and devoted companions.

Ashura Day processions across the country will end after reaching their destinations through traditional routes.

Tight security arrangements have been made on the procession routes across the country.

While mobile phone service has been suspended on the routes of the processions amid security concerns, the double riding of motorcycles has also been banned while the routes have been cordoned off with containers.

Karachi

The main procession of the 10th of Muharram on the day of Ashura in Karachi left from Nishtar Park and moves towards Imambargah Hussainiya Iraniyan, the procession will pass through the designated routes and end at Hussainiya Iraniyan Kharadar. The procession is led by the Pak Butrab Scouts troop. The participants of the procession offered noon prayer at the Tibet Center.

Chief Minister Sindh Murad Ali Shah took an aerial view of the main procession of Ashura Day in Karachi and visited the command and control room established in CPO. Chief Minister Sindh was briefed by IG Sindh at Command and Control Center. Also reviewed was the monitoring of the procession. The Chief Minister also saw the position of officials posted at various buildings and inspected the search app.

On the occasion of Ashura Day, a camp of sables has also been established in Bohri Bazar by the Bohri community to satisfy the hunger of the mourners.

Hyderabad

The main procession of Ashura Day in Hyderabad will take place from Kadamgah Mola Ali, 5 thousand police personnel will perform security duties for the procession. 200 mourners and condolence processions will be included in the procession, 7 walk-through gates have been set up to enter the procession.

Lahore

In Lahore, the main procession of Ashura Day leaves from Nisar Haveli and moves along the fixed routes. After performing the noon prayer at Rang Mahal Chowk, the mourners proceed towards Game Shah. Foolproof arrangements have been made for the security of the procession, and 11,000 personnel of the Punjab Police have been deployed for the security of the procession.

The main procession of Ashura Day in Sargodha started from Imambargah Block No. 19, the procession will proceed through the designated routes and end at Karbala Manzil. On the occasion of the 10th of Muharram, 224 congregations are being organized across the district, apart from the main procession, 214 processions are being taken out across the district.

Multan

In Multan, the main procession of Ashura Day has been taken out from Hira Hyderia, 116 processions will be taken out on Ashura Day, and 4293 police officers will perform the duties of vehicle security.

Jhang

In Jhang, the main procession of Ashura Day was organized from Imambargah Hussainiya Darbargo Harshah, 164 large and small processions of Ashura Day are being organized across the district. More than 700 CCTV cameras are monitoring the procession routes.

Rawalpindi

The main procession of Ashura Day in Rawalpindi will start from Imambargah Ashiq Hussain Teli Mohalla. Police and district administration have made strict security arrangements for the procession. The procession will be monitored by CCT and drone cameras.

Peshawar

Strict security arrangements have been made in Peshawar city on the occasion of Ashura day, and 12 small processions have been taken out across the city. The first procession has been taken out from Syed Agha Rizvi Shah, which will end at Agha Mustafa Imam Bargah. The mobile phone service is suspended on the way to the inner city, and 13 thousand policemen and other security personnel are deployed for the security of the procession.

Dera Ismail Khan

In Dera Ismail Khan, the first main procession of Ashura Day took place from Imambargah Bom Shah. Full-proof security measures have been taken on this occasion.

The main processions of the 10th of Muharram in Abbottabad have been taken out from the main Imam Barah Gah Digi Mohalla. The procession continues on its traditional routes. Strict security arrangements have also been made in the vicinity.

Quetta

The main procession of Ashura Day in Quetta has left from Imambargah Hussaini Nasirabad, the procession consists of 38 mourners. 6,000 FC officials have been deployed for the security of the procession. Mobile phone service has been stopped in the city, and 2 battalions of the Pakistan Army have also been kept on standby.

Dera Bugti

In Dera Bugti, the main procession of Ashura Day was taken out from Imam Bargah Panjtani, the procession will pass through traditional routes and end at Imam Bargah Panjtani.

Azad Kashmir

The main procession of Ashura in Muzaffarabad has been taken out from Imambargah Pir Ulam Shah Bukhari, and thousands of mourners are participating in the procession. which will be concluded through traditional routes.

In Mirpur Azad Kashmir too, the main procession of Ashura started from the main Imam Bargah Baitul Azn. Strict security arrangements have been made on the main procession of Ashura day.

Gilgit-Baltistan

In Hunza, the main procession of Ashura Day took off from Ganesh Complex, the main procession will pass through KKH and end in Aliabad.
