Govt slashes petrol and diesel prices

Petrol price in Pakistan reduced by Rs8 per litre for next fortnight

The government announced a reduction in the prices of petroleum products for the first fifteen days of October.

The Ministry of Finance on late Saturday night issued a notification regarding the reduction in the prices of petroleum products.

According to the notification, the price of petrol has been reduced by 8 rupees per liter, and the new price of petrol has been fixed at 323 rupees 38 paise per liter.

While the price of diesel has been reduced by Rs 11 per liter, the new price of high-speed diesel has been set at Rs 318.18 paise per liter.

The sources earlier predicted that petroleum prices in Pakistan are expected to go down from October 1 (tomorrow) following the stability in the Pakistani rupee against the US dollar.

Earlier this week, the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (Ogra) advised against speculating on the price of petroleum products after federal ministers claimed the POL rates would likely be reduced in the next fortnightly review.
